Hi everyone! This is going to be a short one b/c we are pretty tired but just wanted to say HI and that we are doing well. Yesterday was the doctor's apt. and today we went to the American Consulate to get interviewed. The paperwork is being taken to Moscow as we speak to obtain the boys visas so that we can travel home with them next Friday (coming up soon!!!). We found out that Alexei AND Vladimir both have motion sickness. We were told that Alexei had it but found out the hard way that Vladimir has it. Needless to say - throw up #2 was today on our way back from the consulate's office. We were all feeling pretty sick in the hot, stuffy van but poor Vlady couldn't take it - luckily Valerie had a plastic bag so it all went into the bag. He then closed his eyes and slept the rest of the way. We were so worried about Alex that we didn't even think that Vlady would get sick. Tomorrow we are going to hard boil eggs and put on decorative egg covers that Rich bought at the supermarket. Then on Easter we'll have the eggs and maybe hide a few small toys. Rich is feeling much better just a slight cough and nothing else. The boys seem much better too. I posted a few new pics to the right - enjoy! Hi Josie, Glad to hear your horse is on it's way! What are you going to name it? I think the boys will love your horse. We think that you say horse in Russian as "laroesh". If this isn't correct we'll let you know - we'll ask Anya tomorrow. We can not wait for you to meet your new cousins - it will be fun! They know who you, Emma and Lucy are b/c your picture is in their photo album. Also, we heard it is supposed to rain and then snow tomorrow night. We are supposed to go downtown for a day out on Sunday so we'll have to see what the weather is like. Christ is Risen! Truly He has risen! It's Good Friday for us as we are off from work and going to church for a retreat. Tonight Daria is going to be one of the myrh bearers at the Lord's tomb for the procession tonight. We are hosting Easter at our house on Sunday with the family coming over.
Don't fret over the motion sickness. We went through it with Daria (not Taia). Our first experience was when we were being driven in a van from the airport in Moscow to our hotel which was quite a long drive. They wanted us to be closer to the U.S. Embassy though even that seemed about thirty minutes away. Daria started telling the driver something which of course we couldn't understand. We were following the other two couples' vans. Our driver immmediately pulled over, ran out, opened the door and got Daria out just in time for her to vomit in the snow. He had us wait about 20 minutes before we took off again. She still moaned and groaned so he made a couple more stops while he drove with the window partially opened (We were FREEZING!!!) and had her sit in front. We stopped at a place and bought some motion sickness pills which helped for the rest of the long ride.
When we got home, it was the same thing and of course, she couldn't ride in the front. We invested heavily in Dramamine and always had to drive with the window open. It became kind of a joke because everytime we would be in the car for about fifteen minutes, Daria would shout out her usual and very well learned, "I'm sick!". We found that if we had her playing a video game or had her put a blanket over her head and sort of pretend that it was a tent, she could get by. This really was great on our first trip to San Diego, which we were dreading but we had wanted to visit our friends the Navrides family who had just returned from Russia with their kids. Daria could ride Space Mountain, Thunder Mountain, and the Matterhorn with no problems but just couldn't handle the car. We didn't understand it. Maybe it was Pano's driving!
Eventually she did get used to the car ride but it did take a while. The Parent family also had to deal with this situation with their son, Oleg.

Hi Jayne & Rich, I haven't yet had an opportunity to read all your postings, but what i've read so far I'm enjoying very much. I can't tell you how proud I am of you both and I truly feel you are going to be WONDERFUL parents. As you can see, it doesn't matter what language we speak kids are kids, joyful, mischieveous, etc. You'll be home soon and you'll see how quickly the boys adjust. They look very happy in the pictures and i'm glad i've had an opportunity to share this with you. I can't wait until you get back and actually get to meet them. I miss you both very much, Jayne this place just isn't the same without you. Enjoy the rest of the week and have a safe trip back home. xxoo Brenda--
